Global Paint for Charity To Launch First Housing Development Project in the Collier City, Pompano Beach Florida.

Earlier last week, the Founder and CEO of Global Paint Rony Delgarde met with the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Program Director Dahlia Baker, Mayor Lamar Fischer of Pompano Beach, General Services Director Otis Thomas and City Commissioners Ed Phillips and Dale V.C. Holnes of Brown County Florida to form a partnership for a pilot project to improve the living conditions of elderly people in Collier City in Pompano Beach Florida. In a project similar to one in Brown County Florida, The Faith Construction, CRA and Global Paint volunteers will renovate or repaint homes for up to 300 elderly families in the initial phase of what is being termed the “Global Paint Housing Renovation Development Project”.
This marks the first Global Paint Housing Development project within the Pompano Beach areas, home to more than 100k people and 19.5k people live in the Collier City areas. The Pompano Beach County officials are involved with the project to renovate homes for elderly residents in the city.

According to the Pompano Beach Gov website, Collier City has historically been one of the most deprived areas of Broward County. The CRA has designated the NW 31st Avenue corridor of Collier City as well as the NW 27th Avenue corridor as priority target areas for renovation and redevelopment.
The neighbors in the City are low income, making it among the lowest income cities in America. NeighborhoodScout's research shows that this city has an income lower than 91.4% of U.S. cities. With 44.4% of the youth there below the federal poverty line, this neighborhood has a higher rate of childhood poverty than 86.4% of U.S. cities. About 45.7% of the population is employed, the 80% of youth is unemployed, with 20.2% of the youth has graduated from high school.

In the Collier city in Pompano Beach, FL, residents most commonly identify their ethnicity or ancestry as Haitian (18.2%). There are also a number of people of Jamaican ancestry (6.7%), and residents who report Puerto Rican roots (4.2%), and some of the residents are also of German ancestry (2.9%), along with some Italian ancestry residents (2.5%), among others. In addition, 16.9% of the residents of this city were born in another country.
The languages spoken by people in this city are diverse. These are charted as the languages people favorably speak when they are at home with their families. The most common language spoken in the Collier city is English, spoken by 74.2% of households. Other important languages spoken there include Spanish, Creole and French.

By the end of 2014, more than 19.5 thousand of the city’s residents were above 60 years in age. More than three-in-ten live by themselves. Many lack family support, and are dependent on government subsidies, food stamps, usually averaging around USD$133 a month, for survival. These elderly residents currently live in old homes, which are not suited to the special needs of the elderly or disabled.

Speaking at the meeting, The Collier City Commissioner Ed Phillips stated: “We look forward to the support of Global Paint for Charity and other organizations and concerned people here to help improve these efforts, and provide better home and care to Collier City’s senior citizens. We hope to expand our efforts throughout the Pompano Beach areas in the near future.”

The Housing Renovation and Urban Development Project in the Collier City, Pompano Beach Florida will complement other Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Program to meet the community needs of youth and senior citizens, including health, job training and skill development, said Program Director Dahlia Baker.
The donations of paint and related supplies from Global Paint for Charity for our programs will help provide a workforce development project where some of our general contractors will provide free house painting for some of our more vulnerable senior residents to improve the exterior of their homes and at the same time teach the (youth) trade to trainee painters. The project to start around the first week of July with each trainee painter to remain in the project for two months then transition to job placement, she added.

Otis Thomas, General Services Director in Brown County Florida, said: “Thanks to the Global Paint for Charity and Rony Delgarde for donating the paint to help our community. We hope that through this project, we can help our senior’s citizens and our youths. “We are aiming to improve the living environment of senior citizens in Collier City renovations and work development for youths, in order that people’s quality of life will be improved.”

When most organizations ask for donations to be sent to third-world countries, many people think of sending money, food or clothing. But Global Paint for Charity, Inc. (“Global Paint” or “GPC”) is one of the organizations focused on the future of our children and their environments by shipping paint. Our mission is to recover leftover paint from these residences as well as businesses, reprocess it and distribute it to vulnerable individuals and families in developing countries around the world. While there may be more pressing issues in developing countries than the facade of a building, when someone really thinks about it, the right color in a room can truly change the ambiance of a place and the attitudes of those who inhabit it. Through our efforts, we give people the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of their home through recycled paint. We are changing lives and saving the world one gallon of paint at a time.

Another major factor behind the paint movement is that it's also better for the environment. Recycling the paint reduces waste and saves the country money. According to the industry sources, every resident in America has 4-to-10 gallons of leftover paint in their basement. Sadly, each year 30 million gallons of paint in the U.S. become trash and wind up in the landfills, yet, nearly 90% of the 2.5 billion people living on less than $2/day in the developing world can’t secure sufficient income for their basic needs and have money to buy a 5 gallon bucket of paint usually costs $89.99 – $130.99/bucket. They need to buy rice and bread to eat, medicine, soap, water, clothes, and money for education and shelter. For millions of children and their families, the paint is the gift of life, hope and happiness.

Global Paint for Charity, Inc. remains a one-of-a-kind group adding color and encouragement to people's lives worldwide. Since we started collecting paint in 2010, as many as 500-to-6000 gallons of paint have been shipped at a time to developing countries, including Kenya, Ghana, Guinea, Uganda, Haiti, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Honduras, El Salvador, Guyana, and Mexico. The paint has been used for housing rehabilitation projects including family homes, hospitals, schools, churches, and orphanages, which can get costly since we paid for the shipping out of our own pocket. We are currently working to secure volunteers ad collaborate with other organization, grassroots groups, and teams in every state as well as actively seeking new funding to support our mission.

Thank you for another successful Global Citizen Earth Day Celebration!

The Earth Day 2015 Recycling Celebration took place on Saturday, April 18th the only day of the week that it wasn't raining, it was mostly cloudy and partial sunny but no rain, it was fantastic. Held at Coolray Field, Home of the Gwinnett Braves in Lawrenceville, the 3 hours recycling event was filled with several activities including paper shredding, electronics, tires, cartridges, old sneakers recycling, also playground for kids, and hundred donors, city officials, partners and volunteers came out to celebrate with us. Global Paint for Charity (GPC) was committed to recycling only paint products in partnership with the Gwinnett County Solid Waste. More than 2600 gallons of paint were properly disposed. The majority of the donors, who participated in the Earth Day event, were eager to learn that their unwanted paint donations will be re-used and re-purposed to transform many communities and family homes around the world, and enlightened about our tax deductible advantages for their donation. Many felt that it is quite significant and rewarding to donate their used paint to us and plan to let their neighbors know about our programs. One donor took some brochures, and said he would make copies and pass them around/ to every Home Depot and Sherwin Williams retail stores in his area.

The Earth Day Celebration provided the opportunity for the Global Paint team members to work closely with staff from the Gwinnett County Solid Waste & Recovered Materials Division and its major partners on raising awareness of recycling in ways to help preserve our beautiful planet. Our thanks to the greater Gwinnett County residences and businesses for their wonderful support of our 4th-ever Earth Day Celebration, the Solid Waste staffs and volunteers for their irreplaceable partnership and continued support. A special thank you goes out to all Gwinnett County officials who volunteered to help load all donated containers of paint on our truck, also to all Gwinnett County Police Officers who made sure the event ran smoothly, safely and promptly.

Global paint for Charity was founded in 2010; today it is one of the largest paint recycling programs in the nation and the first public non-profit providers of free paint and hosting free paint projects in the world. Since 2011, we shipped as many as 500-to-6000 gallons of paint at a time for projects in Kenya, Ghana, Uganda ,Equatorial Guinea, Haiti, Honduras, Guatemala, ElSalvador, Mexico, Dominican Republic, also in Atlanta, Miami, Orlando, New Orleans and Chicago. Last year, Global paint for Charity volunteers painted 459 family homes, 40 schools and orphanages. We assisted 45 local homeowners and homeless shelters in the Atlanta areas and recycled over 130,000 gallons of paint from businesses and residences in the U.S. These numbers add up to $10,790,989 saved in local government budget to properly manage left over paint disposal each year, and created a total monetary impact of $2, 400,000 in donation.

2015 Georgia Logistics Summit

In our efforts to serve our donors and recipients of our products, like so many great organizations in the United States are committed to learning from their mistakes and identifying the best way to provide more opportunities for their communities, we were thrilled to participate at the 2015 Georgia Logistics Summit this week. The 2015 Georgia Logistics Summit had something for everyone involved in the movement of goods from here to there and Rony Delgarde was able to attend the Summit to network and learn how to work with large manufactures to understand policies, access information, and logistics and supply chain operations, and build collaboration that will help provide solutions to persistent concerns.

More than 25 of the top 37 supply chains Executives and 2,500 entrepreneur and large companies mostly from Georgia but also from nearly every other state and a handful of foreign countries gathered at the Georgia World Congress Center on both days Tuesday and Wednesday to learn about issues including infrastructure initiatives, logistics and supply chain, offshoring and emerging markets and multichannel e-commerce.

Great group, great speakers including the honorable Governor Nathan Deal who spoke on transportation, logistics and supply chain initiatives and career development strategies to respond to the high demand of career opportunities in both transportation and logistics in the state. The host Jannine Miller Director of Georgia Center of Innovation for Logistics, Chris Carr Commissioner of Georgia Department of Economic Development, the keynote Speaker the Home Depot president and CEO Craig Menear, who discussed his company’s fast-growing online business with a focus on creating a seamless, interconnected retail experience” buy it online and pick it up at the nearest retail store”, Tom Wrobleski and Irv Grossman, both executive vice presidents with Atlanta-based Chainalytics, Chris Swartz, director of global transportation and logistics services for AJC International and many many more,… among the breakdown sessions Rony Delgarde attended the evolution of e-commerce which is the revolution into “omni-channel” and multi-channel” options for order processing and devilry flexibilities like “order it online and go pick it up in the store a few hours later or express shipping for Same Day Delivery options or two days or even offering free shipping options…..”

"Global Paint for Charity's Trip to Central America Was Obviously Successful"

My recent trip to Central America was obviously successful. I was really privileged to meet the Ex- President of Honduras Jose Manuel Zelaya Rosales, and had lunch with the delegation of the State Department and members of the National Congress of Honduras (Congreso Nacional. The Latin American leaders and diverse religion institutions are very honored by the remarkable works I’m doing through Global Paint for Charity (GPC) in Central American and around the world. While on my visit, I was invited to speak before members of Congress in Honduras, opened the first free paint program in the region, and I visited our old paint projects sites, and many other community service projects in Honduras and El Salvador, these are visiting orphanages, churches, schools, speaking to youth and painting at many local projects.

And it is clearly a triumph that we perhaps never would have marked without the special help and support of everyone who made this trip possible. I cannot thank you enough for your generous donations to Global Paint for Charity, as well as all of your prayers and support. Also, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to GPC team and our volunteers in Central America who have dedicated their time and effort toward building the vision and advancing this cause in the region.
